I’m not in Kansas anymore. In Morocco (and Turkey, for that matter – – or any Muslim country), one cannot show the knee, the cleavage, or the shoulder/arm. It’s not that you can’t but it would be disrespectful if you did. So I won’t. Or at least I’ll try really hard not to. Only “certain kind of women” wear clothing that show these body parts. I have a scarf along to use as a cover-up and will buy more along the way which should take care of the shoulder/arm. I’ll wear trousers and longish skirts, which should take care of the knee. As for the cleavage, I’m leaving my décolletage bearing dresses and shirts behind. I just hope feet aren’t a problem because I refuse to leave behind the flip-flop and sandal. Apparently I am a certain kind of woman.

lol. If only “certain kinds of women” show these body parts, I say: Show away! What do you care what they think of you? You’re just a-passin’ through! And as an upshot, you could finance your whole trip just by dressing like you do everyday in the shameless US of A! You’ll have to deal with more than a few swarthy and unsavory characters, sure, but think of how much extra $$ you’d have to buy gorgeous fabrics and other tschotskes for your BFF back home? For me, I hope you will consider amending your flesh-hiding intentions.
With your encouragement I have amended my flesh-hiding intentions by putting a more revealing beach cover-up in my bag. As for anything else, I will stick with the original plan out of respect (and wanting to be served at restaurants and allowed to shop in stores!) and hope that I can make my fashion statements some other way (ala Sex and the City!). Considering men in SE Asia followed me in to stores to give me money to buy gifts for myself, I’ll hope the same happens here sans revealing clothing and I promise I will purchase a gorgeous fabric and/or tschotske for you, my BFF.
🙂 the phrase “a more revealing beach cover-up” made me lol. You seem to have a solid plan for fabrics/tschotskes, so I will leave you to it. nolfso.
What’s the SO stand for? (no need to explain NOLF to me!)
“signing off.”
So after reading a comment on my Facebook page about a friend’s mother who visited Morocco (Tangier, specifically) in the late 1960’s whilst pregnant, I learned this woman was spat upon and ridiculed by ‘certain kind of Moroccan women’ for her delicate condition while the husband and presumed father of the baby was solicited by them! Interesting!
